ELGIN HIRES DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE

Sarah Latshaw has been appointed as the city of Elgin’s first director of organizational culture and engagement, a new administrative position focused on strengthening the city’s internal workplace culture.

Latshaw will work closely with city leadership, human resources and employees to support initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive workplace environment, a news release said.

“My first priority will be understanding the strong foundation that already exists within the city of Elgin,” Latshaw said in the release. “From there, we can build on those efforts, strengthen employee engagement, and use data and employee feedback to help guide future priorities.”

Though not working directly with the public, Latshaw said strengthening internal culture and engagement helps ensure the city’s workforce reflects and supports the diverse community it serves.

Latshaw holds a master’s degree in gender policy from the London School of Economics and is working on a doctorate in business administration focused on organizational leadership and development.

Previously, she worked at the Kirkland & Ellis for law firm for eight years in its diversity, equity and inclusion department.
