Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 is accepting applications through April 3 from residents interested in filling a School Board vacancy created by the resignation of member Sinead Duffy.
Karen O’Connor, the district’s communications director, said she was not aware of the reason for Duffy’s March 11 resignation from a term scheduled to end in April 2027.
Interviews for a potential replacement will be held the week of April 6, with the goal of appointing a replacement at the board’s business meeting on April 20, O’Connor said. Applications to fill the Board opening can be found online during the application period, at www.d181.org/district/board-of-education/apply. Questions about the Board opening may be directed to Jean Duggan, 630-861-4922, or jduggan@d181.org.
Duffy has served since 2019 on the board, and her tenure has been marked by multiple leadership roles and active participation in key oversight committees. She was the board’s vice president in 2021-2022 and became board secretary in 2023. Duffy also was an alternate member of the Academic Success Committee, co-chair of the Finance and Facilities Committee, a PTO board member liaison and the board member liaison for the D181 Foundation.
“We are incredibly thankful for her dedication and service, knowing that every Board member commits countless personal hours — time taken from family and friends — to serve the students in our community,” Superintendent Hector Garcia said.
