Chicago police said that two people were in custody after a 67-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Near West Side, just a few blocks west of the United Center, according to Chicago police.

The victim was gunned down by two armed men in the 2100 block of West Madison Street around 12:50 p.m., police said in a preliminary report. The victim, who sustained at least one gunshot wound to the head, was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:17 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
