
MILWAUKEE — The Chicago White Sox finalized their opening-day roster Wednesday, a day before their 2026 season begins against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.
The Sox placed outfielder Brooks Baldwin (right elbow sprain) and catcher Kyle Teel (right hamstring strain) on the 10-day injured list. Pitchers Prelander Berroa, Drew Thorpe and Mike Vasil were placed on the 15-day IL, each affected by Tommy John surgery.
Catcher Korey Lee and infielder Curtis Mead were designated for assignment. The Sox recently signed catcher Reese McGuire, who will be paired with Edgar Quero behind the plate.
The Sox have 13 pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and six outfielders on the 26-man roster.
The group of outfielders includes Everson Pereira, Derek Hill and Tristan Peters. The Sox have three left-handed relivers in Sean Newcomb, Chris Murphy and Tyler Gilbert. Right-hander Jedixson Páez, a Rule 5 selection, is also on the roster. The 22-year-old makes the jump from high Class A, where he pitched while in the Boston Red Sox organization last season.
White Sox right-hander Shane Smith will square off against Brewers righty Jacob Misiorowski in the opener Thursday in Milwaukee (1:10 p.m., CHSN).
