A Vernon Hills man was charged after he allegedly tried to break into a home and then was tasered by responding officers when he resisted arrest, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The man was identified by police as 36-year-old Grant Manning.
Police said they were called at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday to the 1900 block of Kenton Lane in Green Oaks for a report of a man trying to force his way into a residence.
Manning allegedly used his car to block the homeowner’s car as it left the garage. Police said Manning smashed a bay window and may have gone inside the residence before returning to his vehicle, which he then tried to drive into the home, police said.
Other neighbors called police to report that Manning was yelling and running through neighboring yards.
Deputies said he was covered in blood and displayed aggressive behavior, which led officers to use a Taser to subdue him. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of lacerations to his arms from breaking the window, police said.
He was released into police custody and has been charged with unlawful restraint, criminal damage to property, aggravated assault to a peace officer and resisting a peace officer
