Three people, including two children, were in critical condition after a house fire early Monday in Portage Park.

Officers responded to the fire at the 4000 block of North Austin Avenue a little after 6 a.m., according to the Chicago police department. An 8-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 34-year-old man were transported to Loyola Medicine in critical condition with burns and smoke inhalation, CPD said.

No other injuries were reported, and eight people were displaced, according to the department. The fire’s cause was unknown, CPD said, but the Chicago Fire Department was still investigating.
