The story of two 20-somethings who spark up a beautiful and conflicted connection inside a Blues club seems at first like a remix of "When Harry Met Sally," but the film doesn't stop there. It's smart and hip, finding unexpected twists within the genre. Buckingham Fountain, the Ravenswood neighborhood and The Wild Hare make glorious backdrops for this beautifully honest love story, written and directed by Theodore Witcher. The heat between the leads — played by Larenz Tate and Nia Long — is both palpable and playful. Winner of the Audience Award at Sundance, "Love Jones" is a wonderful throwback to a different time and space, with an easy, joyous vibe that still deeply resonates.
