Sid Luckman’s seven-touchdown passing day against the New York Giants in 1943 proved the Bears could succeed in the air as well as on the ground. Luckman completed 22 of 38 attempts and became the first quarterback to surpass 400 yards in a single game. Jim Benton and Hampton Poll each caught two TD passes, while George Wilson, Connie Mack Berry and Harry Clarke had one apiece as the Bears routed the Giants.
