Michael Ingram, Proviso West–The 6-7 senior center totaled 41 points
(hitting 17 of 20 attempts from the field), 30 rebounds and 8 blocked shots in victories over Downers Grove North and Proviso East.
Dave Vance, Lake Park–The 6-5 senior forward set a school record of 19 consecutive free throws while totaling 47 points and 16 rebounds in two games. He was 10-for-10 at the line in a loss to Elgin and 9-for-9 in a victory over St. Charles.
Amy Bonic, Thornton Fractional North–The 5-10 senior forward collected 52 rebounds and 27 points in victories over Thornton and Thornridge in the Galaxy Tournament.
Beth Hamill, Fremd–The 6-1 senior center had 25 points, 19 rebounds and 7 blocked shots in a 50-33 victory over Barrington.
Rae Ellen Real, York–The 5-10 senior forward totaled 37 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, leading the defending state champions to triumphs over Proviso West and Hinsdale Central.
WRESTLING
Dan Evensen, Marist–The senior had three pins, winning the 119-pound title in the Marist regional and boosting his record to 35-0.
Steve Ryniewicz, Fenton–The senior had a 39-second pin in the finals of the Leyden regional, winning the 126-pound championship and improving his record to 37-0.
SWIMMING
Charlie Saville, Oak Forest–The senior won the 100-yard butterfly and 200 individual medley and swam the butterfly leg on the winning 200 medley relay team in the South Inter-Conference Association Central Division meet. His 100 butterfly time of 54.43 seconds was tops in the SICA.
BOWLING
Chris Gawlik, Rolling Meadows–The senior won the state championship in Peoria, averaging 198 in a 12-game series of 2,373.
GYMNASTICS
Linda Moran, Maria–The senior finished first in all-around (9.25) floor exercise (9.3) and uneven parallel bars (9.1) and tied for first in vaulting
(9.25) in the Morton East regional.
Kathie Orwig, New Trier–The senior won the all-around (9.0), floor exercise (9.05), uneven parallel bars (8.8) and vaulting (9.6) titles in the Glenbrook South regional.
