A 45-year-old man was fatally wounded while sitting inside his residence by gunfire from a drive-by shooting overnight in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday, the victim was sitting inside his residence in the 5700 block of South May Street when a grey sedan drove past and someone inside opened fire toward his residence.
The shooting occurred in a first-floor apartment, authorities said.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as Antwan Washington, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.
The sedan fled north on May Street after the shooting, police said. No one was in custody as Wentworth Area detectives were investigating.
