I would like to offer two observations regarding Colleen Connell`s Perspective article, ”Recalling an emancipation.”

First, in order for women to be recognized as ”human,” according to Ms. Connell`s definition of the term, a whole class of people lost that recognition–the unborn.

Second, instead of remembering when ”hundreds of women died each year because of botched illegal abortions,” our children will remember when hundreds of thousands of females (not to mention males) died each year because of unbotched, legal abortions.

If that`s emancipation, I prefer bondage.
