President Reagan said that his latest idea for continued attacks against Nicaragua was made ”in the spirit of Easter” (Tribune, April 5). He plans to get funds for the attacks through Congress by making the funding sound like a peace proposal.
First Reagan compares the U.S. hired mercenaries attacking Nicaragua with our Founding Fathers. Then he makes war ”in the spirit of Easter.” Each day we find Reagan dragging another cherished symbol through the mud. Someone should tell Reagan that Americans are not pigs.
