Sirhan Sirhan made a good point while up for parole review in California. He complained that there are lots of people who have received lighter sentences than his who have committed worse crimes than he did, implying that the board was being inconsistent and, therefore, unfair.

Inconsistent justice (which is what Sirhan Sirhan has received) is no justice at all, and there has been quite a lot of it in this country for the last decade or so. We need to demand of our legislators a clear policy on criminal punishment to replace the broad, overly flexible policy at present.
