With three players back from last year`s team that finished fifth in the Class AA state tournament, New Trier golf coach Earle Metzger figures his Trevians have a good shot at winning it all this year. Especially if they continue to shoot the way they did Tuesday.
”We were up against some very stiff competition, but we played very well ourselves,” Metzger said about the Trevians` 152-154 triumph over visiting Highland Park at the Winnetka Golf Course.
Robert Moscow, a senior, led the Trevians with a 2-under-par 33 that included seven pars and two birdies. Jeff Knobel contributed a 37, Eric Medow a 40 and Jim Sims a 42 for the Trevians, who are 7-0 in dual-meet competition and are rated No. 2 in The Tribune poll behind defending state champion St. Charles.
Highland Park shot well, too. Bob Johnson led the Giants with a 37 and Louie Pasquesi, Todd Fishbein and David Rosuck all had 39s.
