Tennessee coach Johnny Majors has Alabama`s number. For the fourth straight time, the Vols beat the Crimson Tide, this time 16-14 Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. Tennessee quarterback Tony Robinson may have a torn ligament in his right knee. ”We probably lost one of the greatest quarterbacks I`ve coached,” Majors said.

Stay healthy, Bo Jackson, and the Heisman Trophy is yours. The Auburn tailback rushed for 242 yards on 32 carries, including a 76-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of a 17-14 victory over Georgia Tech. Jackson has four 200- yard games this season and 1,233 yards in 6 games. He also became the Tigers` all-time rushing leader with 3,750 yards.

Florida State fattened up its stats in a 76-14 victory over Tulsa at Tallahassee, Fla., the most lopsided win in State`s history, surpassing a 59- point victory over Louisville in 1953. Eric Thomas passed for two TD and Chip Ferguson added three more. ”We needed a blowout,” said FSU coach Bobby Bowden. ”A loss is a loss. It doesn`t matter what the score is,” said Tulsa coach Don Morton.

Vanderbilt nearly pulled off an upset, but Alan Herline, who had kicked field goals of 18 and 46 yards, missed a 44-yarder as time expired. The Commodores had to settle for a 13-13 tie against Georgia. Vanderbilt hasn`t beaten Georgia since 1973. ”There isn`t anybody on our team that is happy or satisfied with a tie,” said Vandy coach George MacIntyre. ”There wasn`t a dry eye in our dressing room, and that`s important. We must be teaching them the right ideas.”

Southwestern Louisiana should avoid Southeastern Conference teams, especially the cream of the SEC. The Ragin` Cajuns, who lost 49-7 to Auburn, were routed 45-0 by Florida. The shutout was the second in three games for the Gators, who are unbeaten in 16 games.
