Firstbank of Illinois Co., a multibank holding company based in Springfield, has agreed to acquire six banks in Downstate Collinsville, Troy, Cobden, Dahlgren, New Athens and Benton for $38 million in cash and stock. The six banks, each with the words ”United Illinois Bank” in its title, have total assets of $275 million, bringing Firstbanks` total assets to more than $1 billion.
