General Binding Corp., a Northbrook-based maker of business machines and related products, said second-quarter net income rose 8 percent, to $1.9 million, or 40 cents a share, from $1.8 million, or 37 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Sales rose 12 percent to a record $50.8 million.
Profits for the first six months of 1986 totaled $3 million, or 63 cents a share, up from $2.8 million, or 57 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales totaled $97 million, up from $87.1 million.
Rudolph Grua, president, said the firm posted higher sales and profits from both domestic and international operations.
