Michigan Gov. James Blanchard dedicated a $1 billion Chrysler Corp. research complex that he said will serve as a world center for advanced manufacturing technology. He described the new facility, in Auburn Hills, Mich., as ”the brain and central nervous system of the auto industry,” and said the center and other Chrysler projects will preserve 24,000 jobs.
