Cindy Kaufmann, Seneca–The 6-foot senior led her team to the Class A state title by scoring a record 86 points in three games, including a record 33 points in a 54-47 championship game victory over Hancock Central of Carthage.
Michele Savage, Immaculate Heart of Mary–The 6-foot junior center scored 17 points to lead IHM to a 45-43 victory over Massac County of Metropolis in the Class AA state title game.
Jim Williams, Marmion Military Academy–In Marmion`s 63-52 victory over St. Francis, the 6-foot senior guard scored 36 points on 11 field goals and 14 free throws in 16 attempts.
SWIMMING
Erik Maurer, Loyola Academy–He won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles in the state meet in 45.85 and 1:39.89 seconds.
Brock Harr, Schaumburg–The junior won state titles in the 200 individual medley (1:53.47) and the 100 breaststroke (58.55).
TRACK AND FIELD
Charles Collins, Mendel–The senior won the shot put (57 feet 1/4 inch)
at the Bloom Trail Relays.
Bill Stuckel, Fenton–He won the 50-yard low hurdles (6.3 seconds) and the triple jump (41-6 1/2) at the Fenton Relays.
