Before he was elected, Paul Simon was critical of Sen. Chuck Percy for not doing enough for Illinois. Now it`s Sen. Simon, and he can do so much for Illinois. You remember Illinois–fifth in the amount of federal taxes shipped off to Washington, D.C.–and 46th in the amount of federal funds coming back to our state.
When Sen. Paul Simon announced for the presidency, the report said he`d spend only two days a week in Washington as senator.
Now, there`s a ”part-time” senator for Illinois. How could he criticize Chuck Percy and turn around and do the same thing?
