Corn production as of Aug. 1 was estimated at 6.94 billion bushels, down 16 percent from last year`s crop of 8.25 billion bushels, according to the Leslie Analytical Organization. Soybean production was estimated at 1.89 billion bushels, down 5 percent from 2 billion in 1986.
