Manager Jim Fregosi said he isn`t going to worry much about Neil Allen`s situation. Allen is feuding with Fregosi and would like to go elsewhere. Fregosi came down harshly on Allen during his radio show Sunday on WMAQ. ”If he wants to cry, let him cry,” Allen said. ”He`s been given every opportunity. The man is 0-7.” Fregosi had Allen warming up in the bullpen when Bill Long ran into trouble in third inning Sunday. But he sat down when Long worked his way out of a jam.
Ivan Calderon`s ailing right shoulder kept him out of Sunday`s lineup. Calderon said he hurt the shoulder while throwing last week. Ironically, Calderon`s left shoulder, which has been bothering him all season, is feeling much better. ”I`ve got to get them both well at the same time,” Calderon said.
Fregosi could get word Monday on whether or not he`ll be suspended for his argument with umpire Dale Ford Thursday. Fregosi took some heat on his radio show for some of his profane language that hit the air during the dispute. ”I regret that happened,” he said.
Toronto`s all-star shortstop, Tony Fernandez, missed Sunday`s game with a sore knee. He came out of Saturday`s game after a collision with Rance Mulliniks.
Boston comes into Chicago to begin a three-game series Monday at Comiskey Park.
