The misspelling of ”principal” in the third edition of the Aug. 19 Tribune depresses me. The distinction between ”principle” and ”principal” is a cliche of grammar school English curriculums. As I edit the work of approximately 30 college- and graduate-degree analysts I often see abominable writing, but I seldom encounter this error.

Perhaps the author meant to say, ”The principle with which we should be concerned is the welfare of emotionally wounded children.” In any event, one would think an editorial page deserved more attention than yours is apparently receiving.
