Catcher Carlton Fisk started his third straight game Monday, which might be the result of a conversation he had with manager Jim Fregosi after Saturday night`s game in Kansas City. ”He came into my office and said that he`d like to play as much as he can in the month of September so we can set things up for next year,” Fregosi said. ”I told him that I appreciated his coming in.”
Shortstop Ozzie Guillen doesn`t know when he`s going to get into his next game. He was out of the lineup Monday for the eighth time in nine games because of an injured left knee. ”I know I can`t do it now,” Guillen said.
”If a grounder is hit to me, and I can`t reach it because I`m hurt, the pitcher`s not going to feel too good about it.”
Daryl Boston also missed Monday`s game. He sprained his toe when he ran into the left-field wall to make a catch Sunday. He may be able to play Tuesday.
