A 32-year-old man was arrested Thursday after a search warrant was executed and 19 dogs were discovered severely neglected at a South Side property in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, Chicago police found 19 dogs in various stages of neglect during a search warrant in the 7100 block of South King Drive Avenue. The dogs were taken by Animal Control to be evaluated.

A 32-year-old man was arrested, and detectives were investigating.

Police did not give information on the reason for the search warrant at the property.
