The Aug. 29 headline of The Chicago Tribune was ”Judge cites AMA for chiropractic plot,” and it is hoped this decision will put to rest this unfortunate episode in the history of both of these fine professions.

The decision by Judge Susan Getzendanner is clearly a decisive victory for those patients who have need of a multidiscipline approach to their health care needs. I am fully aware that neither court mandates nor legislation can mitigate personal emotions but, at the very least, the stage is set to present ways and means to work as colleagues for the benefit of our mutual patients.

It is time to put aside our differences and explore the avenues of peaceful coexistence for the welfare of those whom we are privileged to serve.
