One 9-inch pie crust
4 1/2 cups peeled, cored grated apples, about 3 1/2 pounds apples
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon flour
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 cup melted butter
1 egg, beaten
1 cup chopped pecans
1. Bake pie crust according to package directions. Cool on wire rack.
2. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
3. Drain grated apples well. Put into large bowl. Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, butter and egg. Stir well. Scrape into baked pie crust. Sprinkle top evenly with nuts.
4. Bake 10 minutes; reduce heat to 350 degrees. Bake until filling is almost set, about 45 to 50 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Note: Pie is good served with ice cream.
