I don`t understand the purpose of William Ecenbarger`s Sept. 21 article criticizing Babe Ruth`s uncourageous behavior of 70 years ago when he avoided the draft. God gives each of us a mission in life, and Babe Ruth`s was to popularize baseball, not soldiering.
Wouldn`t this be a better world if all the young men, from both sides, stayed home from the war and played games instead?
