Newell Co. said sales, net income and earnings per share reached record levels for the third quarter. On sales of $218.8 million, net income was $11.2 million, or 74 cents a share, up from $7.4 million, or 63 cents a share, a year earlier. Daniel C. Ferguson, chief executive of Newell, a housewares and hardware maker based in Downstate Freeport, said he was pleased with the
