Remembering Eames. ”A Tribute to Charles Eames,” featuring films, furniture and objects designed by the renowned architect, is featured at the Merchandise Mart. Films on Eames` work can be seen in the Herman Miller showroom, suite 920, during business hours; telephone 822-0140 for an appointment. Furniture and objects will be shown in the mart`s Gallery of Design, suite 13-157, from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Dec. 15. The gallery is open to the public, and admission is free. Almost 10 years after Eames` death, the retrospective will touch on his major contributions-the first collaborations with Eero Saarinen in 1940, which propelled both architects to mainstream design fame; innovations in plywood, plastic and fiberglass furniture with Ray Kaiser, Eames` partner and wife; and the years of furniture designs for Herman Miller Inc. –
