A short time ago we had the ”Great American Smokeout,” a one-day affair to get people to stop smoking.

Maybe smokers should take a lesson from the Orthodox Jews who smoke except on the Sabbath-from sunset Friday to sundown Saturday (about 25 hours)- and on other Jewish holidays. This totals about 60 days a year.

Records show these smokers have less lung cancer than others. Why don`t smokers have a ”Great Smokeout” every Sunday? They would live longer and possibly stop smoking forever.
