Raquel Welch`s daughter, actress Tahnee Welch, 26, suffered a beating at the hands of a Manhattan mugging team Wednesday before one suspect was captured by a neighbor who heard Welch`s screams.
The attack outside the woman`s East Side apartment happened as she was returning from grocery shopping at about 12:40 a.m.
Two young men jumped her from behind and punched her in the face, police reported, until she gave up a suede purse containing $20 and a credit card.
As the two fled, they were pursued by a neighbor out with a friend walking his dog. The neighbor subdued one assailant while his friend chased the other assailant but lost him, police reported.
Welch, who suffered a bruised left eye, cut right eyebrow, scrapes and back pains, was treated at a nearby hospital and released. She would not comment on the incident.
The superintendent of her building, Terry Clarke, said Welch is ”a very nice kid, quiet, reserved-not one of those Hollywood flashers.” Clarke said Welch screamed so loudly that he heard her inside the building and ran down to see what was the matter.
Welch, who portrayed an alien in the movie ”Cocoon,” is appearing in the nighttime TV soap ”Falcon Crest” as Shannon Taylor.
