Initially, this promised to be one of the hottest Februarys in recent memory, with new releases scheduled from Hall and Oates, Bob Dylan and Talking Heads. But 11th-hour delays sabotaged those projects.
Despite this disappointment, pop-music lovers can anticipate new releases from AC/DC, Robert Plant and country singer George Strait.
But of all the February releases, the music industry is keeping closest tabs on RCA Records` ”More Dirty Dancing” sound-track album. Slated for a Feb. 24 release, the record follows the surprising success of the ”Dirty Dancing” sound track. In case you think it`s unusual to have a second sound- track album, bear in mind that Motown released two sequels to its platinum album for ”The Big Chill,” and there were sound-track sequels to the hit albums for ”Urban Cowboy” and ”Woodstock.”
One of the top-10 hits from the original ”Dirty Dancing” sound track, Eric Carmen`s ”Hungry Eyes,” is included on Arista`s ”The Best of Eric Carmen.”
AC/DC`s Atlantic Records album ”Blow Up Your Video” is the successor to the band`s platinum ”Who Made Who” album. The first single is titled
”Heatseeker.” Atlantic also will issue ”Now and Zen,” from former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant.
”If You Ain`t Lovin`, You Ain`t Livin`,” the latest album from country singer George Strait, will be issued Feb. 24th.
Dance-rock diva Stacey Q., and heavy-metalists Frehley`s Comet are releasing follow-ups to their successful debuts.
