John von Rhein, the Tribune music critic, is absolutely right. Maestro Claudio Abbado is by far a better conductor than David Barenboim. It would be dreadful to have the great Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Barenboim, who isn`t really of the highest caliber. It`s a pity that the Fogel power struggle may harm the CSO.
