Construction has begun on Bartlett on the Greens, a development of 120 single-family houses on the Villa Olivia golf course in northwest suburban Bartlett.

The two-, three- and four-bedroom houses will be priced from $139,900 to $171,900. More than half of the houses will be located along the 18-hole championship course.

”Buyers will be able to enjoy resort living, because the attractions of the Villa Olivia Country Club are right at their doorsteps,” said sales manager John Butterworth. The club includes the golf course, ski slope, tennis courts, Olympic-sized swimming pool, dining room and restaurant.

The development, on Lake Street one mile west of Ill. Hwy. 59, is a joint venture of the Charles H. Shaw Co. of Chicago and Home by Hemphill Inc., a custom home builder.

Buyers can select from eight floor plans, ranging from a 1,500-square-foot ranch to a 2,365-square-foot two-story. First occupancies are set for July.

The houses feature eat-in kitchens, great rooms, studies and first-floor master bedroom suites. Basments are standard.

Other standard features include wood windows, oak entries, ceramic tile baths with cultured marble vanities, vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets, custom quality wood kitchen cabinetry and brick and aluminum siding. Every house has a two-car attached garage, laundry room, gas range, dishwasher, gas forced-air heating and energy efficient insulation.

Options include masonry fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, wet bars, bay windows, skylights, patios and wood decks.

Grounds maintenance and snow-plowing are taken care of on the fully landscaped homesites.
