For anyone with a physical disability, the natural beauty and attractions of the national parks can be alluring, but bring fears of difficult access.
Now, a small Vermont map firm is making the national parks more accessible to those confined to a wheelchair, who are blind or have a hearing disability.
On July 14, Northern Cartographic will announce the publication of
”Access America: An Atlas and Guide to the National Parks for Visitors with Disabilities.”
This large, 464-page publication ($89.95) will have 300 color maps, easily handled with one hand or prosthetics. Discounts will be offered to nonprofit organizations.
The firm is also producing a series of guides to individual parks such as ”Access Yosemite National Park: An Atlas and Guide for Visitors with Disabilities,” now available at $7.95 (plus $2 postage).
