Mass for Rev. Vincent de Paul Burnell, O.S.A., 77, a former mathematics instructor at St. Rita High School and Mendel Catholic High School in Chicago, will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 5443 S. Washtenaw Ave. Father Burnell celebrated 50 years as an Augustinian priest this year. He died Saturday in San Diego. He was also a mathematics instructor at St. Thomas High School, Rockford. Recently, he had lived at the St. John Stone Friary, 1165 E. 54th Pl., instructing seminarians. Father Burnell is survived by his sister, Dorothy Mayfield.
