Randy Flaherty, 24, of Chicago Ridge, who agreed to testify against reputed drug kingpin John Cappas contacted his attorney from a hotel room Friday night after seeing a television news report that his family had filed a missing persons report, police said.
Flaherty pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine in connection with a million-dollar drug ring allegedly run by Cappas.
His family told police that Flaherty had been missing since he left their home Thursday evening to see a woman named ”Maria,” who had driven to his home.
