Herschel Walker will be the man of the moment Sunday when he leads the Cowboys into Soldier Field. Walker, a 6-foot-1-inch, 225-pound all-purpose running back, is the National Football Conference`s top offensive threat. He has rushed for 577 yards and caught passes for 300 to give him the most total yards from scrimmage.
– The Cowboys are 5-2 when Walker runs for more than 100 yards. Since 1960, Dallas is 38-7 on the road whenever one of its backs gains more than 100 yards. The Bears have not given up 100 yards to an opposing runner in 29 games, dating back to Eric Dickerson`s 111 yards on Nov. 3, 1986.
– Dennis McKinnon has quite a hold on the Bears. Since he joined the club in 1983, the Bears have gone 16-0 in games in which the wide receiver has caught a touchdown pass.
– The Bears have won the last two games of the series against Dallas, both at Texas Stadium. Before that, the Cowboys had won six in a row.
– Mike Ditka will be presented with a ring by Hall of Fame President Pete Elliott at halftime Sunday. On July 30, Ditka became the first tight end inducted into the Hall of Fame and the 21st Bear.
