Rep. Dan Rostenkowski (D., Ill.), chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, said the Bush administration and Congress probably wouldn`t tackle the U.S. deficit until forced to by a ”crisis.” Rostenkowski, speaking at a conference in Hong Kong, said ”that crisis could very well come around September, when we have to start working on the debt ceiling.” Rostenkowski added he didn`t know how President-elect George Bush would be able to solve the budget problem without raising revenues.
