Here`s a gift for basil lovers. If they don`t have their own greenhouse, give them a membership in Basil Anonymous for the holidays.
Members receive one pound of fresh-cut basil each month from Fox Hill Farm, Parma, Mich., along with a membership card, a copy of ”The Basil Book” and a Basil Festival apron.
The memberships are available in annual ($225), semi-annual ($150) and monthly ($43.50) versions. A pound of basil will make enough pesto sauce for four to five pounds of pasta.
Fox Hill has been supplying basil and other herbs since 1972. The farm, about 85 miles west of Detroit, is the location of an annual Basil Festival each summer. It also produces herb vinegars, pesto sauce, cheesecake, brie and decorative holiday herbs.
