For the second year, Spertus Museum of Judaica is offering a special children`s program on Sunday. ”Jewish parents are always looking for things to do with their kids on Christmas Day,” says the museum`s Kathi Lieb.
”They`re home from work, and the kids are out of school.” This year, local puppeteer Marilyn Price will bring her handmade puppets and stories to the museum for a children`s show (ages 4 and up) entitled ”Punch and Judaism: Jewish Tales Old and New.” ”I will be telling across-the-board Jewish stories from the legends,” says Price. ”They are not theological and not religious, but Jewish stories always have a moral in them.” One of Price`s stories will be ”The Brothers,” based on an ancient tale about two brothers learning to share and give. Another example is ”Joseph Who Loved the Sabbath,” which tells how a man spends his week preparing for the sabbath. Price will also demonstrate how she makes her puppets; kids can participate in the show, too.
