Chicago-based Kemper Financial Cos. said Friday it will shift 125 jobs to Kansas City this year to consolidate its mutual-fund services operations.
Kemper said it will offer transfers to all the employees whose jobs will be moved. The jobs involve dealing with shareholders and brokers and taking orders, a Kemper spokesman said.
Kemper, a unit of Kemper Group, of northwest suburban Long Grove, manages $48 billion in assets. It employs 1,300 people in Chicago.
The decision to move most of the mutual-fund services operations out of Chicago follows Kemper`s decision to hire 300 people in Kansas City to do bookkeeping jobs related to mutual funds.
The workers were previously employed by Kemper`s transfer agency in Kansas City, DST Systems Inc.
