Nothing demonstrates better the misguided direction of ”school reform”

than board President Frank Gardner`s quote in the Jan. 1 Tribune. When asked why each day many classrooms in the Chicago public schools are without teachers, Gardner replied the program had been set aside because ”we`ve been interrupted working with school reform.”

Apparently, school reform has nothing to do with having a teacher in every classroom!
