York`s unheralded Dukes continued their march for total recognition Tuesday night when they overwhelmed Hinsdale Central 91-14 in a West Suburban Conference Silver Division mismatch in Elmhurst.
The Dukes (16-3 overall, 6-0 in conference) had the game tucked away after they scurried to a 49-8 lead after the first 16 minutes.
Andrea Shish led four players in double figures with 18 points. Eileen Graham and Bonnie Richardson had 16 apiece.
Hinsdale Central stumbled to 0-6 in the conference with the loss.
H-F`S 3-POINTER TIPS EISENHOWER IN OVERTIME
Chris Janaszak hit a three-pointer with 1 minute 4 seconds left in overtime to lead Homewood-Flossmoor to a 36-33 victory over Eisenhower.
Homewood-Flossmoor moved to 10-9, 3-3 in the SICA East matchup. Ayanna Jones scored 14 points, including a free throw with :05 left in overtime to ice the victory for H-F.
Tina McAfee had 17 points and 9 rebounds for Eisenhower.
Young 104, Crane 16-No. 5 Whitney Young (14-4, 5-0) won the war but suffered a heavy casualty when star guard E.C. Hill went out with a sprained ankle in the first two minutes of the first quarter of the Red-West rout.
”She`ll be out maybe a week and will miss a couple of games,” said Young coach Arthur Penny. LaTara Jones scored 18 points and Cindy Conners 15 for the Dolphins.
East Aurora 79, Streamwood 61-Rasheema Wood poured in 34 points to lead seventh-ranked East Aurora (16-1, 7-0) to a 79-61 romp over host Streamwood in an Upstate Eight match. Angie Durham added 15 points for the winners. Chris Francke scored 27 and Renee Kanak 17 for Streamwood (11-7, 4-3).
Crystal Lake South 51, Crystal Lake Central 42-Crystal Lake South
(16-3, 5-1), behind Allison Hunter (19 points) and Andrea Magyar (13), retained first place in the Fox Valley.
Queen of Peace 61, Maria 45-Amy Birmingham had 22 points, 14 rebounds and 12 blocked shots for Queen of Peace (10-5, 3-0) in the GCAC South.
Oak Park 59, Leyden 28-Oak Park (7-11) built a 35-19 halftime lead and coasted behind Amy Kelpas (13 points), Leslie Fisher (12) and Lasonya Smith
(10).
Marshall 102, Collins 19-No. 2 Marshall (14-1, 5-0) showed no effects from the week-long post-Christmas layoff as they built a 61-6 halftime lead and coasted in the Red-West.
Curie 40, Robeson 38-Rose Colon had 13 points and Famika Moore 12 as Curie (13-6, 7-1) rolled in the Red-Central. LaTonya Williams had 13 for Robeson.
Englewood 60, Simeon 49-Suyin Smith had 18 points and 20 rebounds and Miranda Conway (16 points, 12 rebounds) as Englewood (10-6, 4-4).
Woodlands 51, M. P. Academy 20-Ann Olson and Mary Teresa Kraft each had 11 points and Patty Shumay 10 for Woodlands Academy (8-2, 5-2) in the Independent League.
Conant 61, Rolling Meadows 42-Lisa Bluege scored 26 and Kris Rodis 12 for Conant (12-8, 3-4) in a Mid-Suburban South blowout.
Waukegan West 52, Highland Park 49-Karen Gust had 14 points and Candace Blanton 11 for Waukegan West (3-15, 2-2) in the Central Suburban North. Karen Alexander had 23 for Highland Park (6-11, 1-3).
St. Scholastica 46, Regina Dominican 42-Kelli Fitzgibbons (22 points, 8 rebounds) and Pam Schaffrath (13 points, 16 rebounds, 5 steals, 5 assists)
sparked St. Scholastica (12-1, 4-0) in the GCAC North.
Woodstock 73, Dundee-Crown 46-Woodstock (6-10, 3-3) took a 30-14 halftime lead and went on to stun Dundee-Crown (12-5, 5-2) in the Fox Valley behind Amy LeMert (22 points), Eve Webber (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Pam Cairns (12 points, 9 rebounds). Michelle Russell had 18 points for Dundee-Crown, but center Cheryl Wilbrandt was held to nine points.
Providence-St. Mel 47, Josephinum 36-Delanda Blunt scored 17 points and Marie Thornton 13 to spark Providence-St. Mel (6-8).
North Shore 62, Elgin Academy 39-Heather Axelrod had 28 points and Patty Campos 20 for North Shore (7-2, 6-1) in the Independent League. Leslie Stumpp scored 22 for Elgin Academy (2-6, 2-3).
Hubbard 46, Bogan 31-Laura Torres scored 16 points for Hubbard in the Blue-Central. Daphne Johnson had 17 for Bogan (5-2, 8-3).
Hoffman Estates 39, Prospect 32-Erin Ingwersen scored 17 points as Hoffman Estates (13-7, 6-1) rolled in the Mid-Suburban South.
Downers North 62, Lyons 53-Kammi Grenato scored 16 points while Cory Rensch added 11 points and nine assists for Downers Grove North (13-4, 5-1) in a West Suburban Silver game.
Proviso East 62, Morton 58 (OT)-In the West Suburban Silver, Proviso East (1-10, 1-4), paced by Tracy Graves (22 points) and Tamara Turner (15), won its first game of the year.
Luther South 54, Aurora Central 45-Jan Kutz had 21 points as Luther South (11-1, 8-1) breezed in the Private League.
McAuley 85, Academy of Our Lady 34-Megan Lucid had 15 points, Maureen Steinemann and Laura Repka 12 apiece and Norine Nolan 10 as Mother McAuley
(10-6, 4-0) remained unbeaten in the GCAC South.
Luther North 46, Illiana 26-Luther North (16-4, 10-0), one of the top Class A teams in the state, rolled in the Private League with Ruth Messner
(10 points, 5 steals) and Renee Gates (10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals)
showing the way.
Kenwood 52, Fenger 21-Camille Wells (15 points, 5 rebounds) and Tishika Perry (14 points, 17 rebounds) led the way as Kenwood (12-3, 9-0) cruised in the Blue-South.
Romeoville 59, Lincoln-Way 38-Terri Vasquez scored 22 points and Wendy Koehler netted 19 as No. 13 Romeoville (14-2, 5-1) rolled in the SICA West.
Oak Lawn 60, Argo 44-Dianne Dye had 23 points and Jill LaFoy 16 as Oak Lawn (8-10, 4-3) rolled to 28-18 halftime lead and coasted to the SICA North victory. Lisa O`Lear had 13, Julie Potrawski 12 and Wendy Spoon 11 for Argo.
Joliet West 64, Lockport 43-Allison Arnoldi (17 points) led four players in double-figure scoring to spark SICA West leader Joliet West (13-5, 6-0).
Mt. Assisi 86, Lourdes 53-Monju Oommen had 33 points, Dorothy Fedor 23 and Jenny Sullivan 12 as Mt. Assisi (6-7, 3-1) romped in the GCAC South. Lisa Krokos had 21 for Lourdes.
Andrew 43, Bolingbrook 29-Michelle Bullard managed 11 points to lead Andrew (2-14, 1-5). Shawn Williams had 13 for Bolingbrook (1-15, 0-6).
Montini 55, Benet 38-Tammy Kocher scored 25 points as No. 10 Montini
(17-0, 7-0) continued to rule the West Suburban Catholic Conference.
Nazareth Academy 56, Westmont 48-Jennifer Howard scored 22 points as Nazareth Academy (11-3) blew past Westmont in a nonconference game. Tammy Selmes led Westmont with 18.
Proviso West 53, Glenbard West 37-Audrey Burcey and Joan Finley had 15 points each for Proviso West in the West Suburban Silver.
Rosary 53, Immaculate Conception 42-Janet Feltes scored 18 and Patti Bakala 16 for Rosary in the West Suburban Catholic. Becky Evans had 15 points to lead IC.
