If Ald. Lawrence Bloom`s ”Blueprint for Putting Chicagoans to Work” is as wise and courageous as was described in the Jan. 2 lead editorial, it puzzles me that his mayoral campaign is labeled ”quixotic” and that he is already, in the judgment of the editors, an also-ran even though the primary election is still far away.

By providing front-page news articles about Ald. Bloom`s substantive proposals, rather than giving most of the headlines and column inches to the Daley-Sawyer horse race, you would do a service to the electorate and give Chicago citizens a chance at having a mayor who cares more about the city than about his personal power or the power of his racial group.
