I must take offense with Jeff MacNelly`s depiction of ”Advances in German Engineering” in the Jan. 15 edition of The Tribune, which I found distasteful and irresponsible in its comparison of a concentration camp and the Libyan chemical plant. It shouldn`t have been published.

German-Americans constitute this nation`s largest minority and have contributed greatly over the years in a variety of ways to the overall betterment of our country. This kind of crass anti-Teutonic German-bashing can serve no good cause and has no place in a world-class newspaper such as The Chicago Tribune.
