Every political election that takes place in Chicago simply proves that the right to vote is a privilege that only qualified citizens should possess. I agree with William F. Buckley Jr., who stated that he ”preferred intelligent voting of 50 percent of the country to 100 percent voting if done by uninformed, apathetic voters.”
Over the years the political campaigns in Chicago have turned into racial contests, with major issues seldom debated. It is distressing to read about the racial battles that are taking place in the present election. The time has come for the town with sagging shoulders to regain its self-esteem, which it loses every election.
I hope that our society can change its outlook on political racism while there is still time. Why don`t we make an effort to vote for the candidate who best agrees with our values, not our skin color?
