Responding to Warren Lonngren`s ”Deer problem” letter, I agree that the numbers of deer in some suburban areas may be causing problems, but I don`t agree that the solution is to get rifle-toting game wardens to go out and murder them.

There are humane alternatives available. Technology has come a long way to improve the lives of humans. There are now readily available very efficient sterilization methods that could help contain deer populations. Doesn`t it make sense to substitute humane options for the barbarian method of shooting them down with guns?
