In response to Mr. Chapman`s column on legalizing drugs, I am shocked at the growing number of people who think legalization is the solution to the drug problem.
Haven`t we learned anything from the alcohol problem our society has?
Commercials glamorize alcohol so much that our children can`t wait to turn 21 so they can get drunk.
Alcoholism and drunk driving are taking their toll. Do you expect legalized drugs to be any different? During Prohibition alcohol-related deaths and illnesses decreased dramatically. After Prohibition those figures went right back up. That`s because the illegality of alcohol was a deterrent. Most people do obey the law.
